My capstone project focused on the role of mentoring and resources as a tool to support farmers in Western Washington. I researched the process of operating a farm business, opportunities and challenges faced at all levels of involvement from just starting out to retirement. As well as a review of the agricultural landscape including land availability, local food economy and environmental conditions. My internship host organization was Washington FarmLink, which acts as a conduit for resources and networking to local farmers. During my internship I conducted an update of resources and developed the framework for a farmer mentorship program.
