I completed my Capstone experience through an internship with Conservation Northwest, a local non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and connecting wildlife species and their habitats in Washington State and British Columbia. I researched several key Northwest wildlife species and wrote three-to four-page stories for each, focusing on their habitat associations, movement needs, current threats, and predicted effects from climate change. The purpose of these materials is to help the public better understand the importance of habitat connectivity through engaging stories of regional wildlife species. Additionally, I undertook academic research on issues of habitat fragmentation, connectivity, and wildlife conservation.
