Ava is pursuing a dual degree in business and environmental studies with a minor in nutrition. She grew up on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington and spent most of her life on Dabob Bay.

Anya Gavrylko, Environmental Community Legacy Scholarship
Anya is an Environmental Studies and Community, Environmental & Planning double major graduating in the spring of 2023. She is from Chicago, Illinois, and is currently working as a research assistant on a project monitoring bird-collisions on campus to bring more bird safe architectural design-based solutions to the University of Washington. 

Hard work and grit characterize Jenny Renee. No stranger to challenges, Jenny has traversed an untraditional path and become an enthusiastic advocate for ocean conservation.

For Jasmmine Ramgotra, dance is a way to engage with the community, and a means to express tough social and environmental issues we face in today’s society. She’s looking to shift the culture of dance away from abstraction, in order to lead the way for a more connected and inclusive tomorrow.

Danielle Bogardus takes on independent research in Peru with a goal to divert waste and contribute to healthy forests and communities. 

For 24 years running, Washington Conservation Voters has hosted its Annual Breakfast of Champions to celebrate environmental leaders in the community, including ten young leaders under 30. This year, we’re proud to share that Carter Case, UW Environmental Studies alum will be recognized at the Breakfast for his work in habitat restoration and political advocacy. 

 
Anna Mines graduated in December 2014, with a double major in Environmental Studies and ethnomusicology.
Persuaded by a friend to visit and stay in Italy for a while after graduation, Anna left Seattle on a six-week backpacking trip, which included a WWOOF stint in the southern Italian town of Maratea. 

Program on the Environment alumna Elizabeth Szorad is a Waste Zero Specialist at Recology CleanScapes, an employee-owned company that works with municipalities on waste diversion strategies. Read about her journey from UW to her current dream job.
